Safety Edges: Protection of shearing and crushing edges
When we started, in 1987, to translate our ideas into products like Safety Edges, we did not have a clue as to where our entrepreneurial trip would end. At the time, production, design, and sales of Safety Edges took place in our parentsí garage! Since our founding, several product groups like Safety Edges have been designed and successfully launched in the machine safety devices market. We also welcome your comments and any criticism, as this will help us to improve and to create new solutions like Safety Edges
Safety Edges: The Machinery Directive states that dangerous machines may only be put into operation, if comprehensive safety measures have been taken to protect the personnel working with these machines. One of these measures is for the protection of shearing and crushing edges at automatically driven devices bearing a substancial risk of injury. For protecting against risks at shearing and crushing edges, Safety Edges are employed. Applications such as machine guards, lifting tables, theatre stages and many others are typical. Safety edges, when activated, will immediately switch off the power source. Previous to the launch of the Haake safety edge, either electrically operating devices to the N/O principle (two conductive strips or layers are brought together when the safety edge is operated), or opto-electronic systems (a light beam is interrupted) were the standard product options available on the market. Such devices operate via signals, which need to be transformed and processed via a control unit.

Haake supply devices having different materials and closing technologies for indoor or outdoor use, respectively. Our safety edges for outdoor use are vulcanised at the end caps, so that water is not an issue.
