Haake Safety Edge and step edge

When we started, in 1987, to translate our ideas into products like step edge, we did not have a clue as to where our entrepreneurial trip would end. At the time, production, design, and sales of step edge took place in our parents’ garage! Since our founding, several product groups like step edge have been designed and successfully launched in the machine safety devices market. We also welcome your comments and any criticism, as this will help us to improve and to create new solutions like step edge

The sensor part of the safety edge or step edge is positioned directly behind the front portion of the rubber profile. Separation of the contact position does not rely on a bending of the contact chain, but on the re-direction of the external radial forces to internal axial forces. step edge: Actuation will commence at low actuating forces and after a very short response travel, providing a fast response time. The full remaining height of the rubber profile is available as an over-travel. In particular with regard to the prevention of injuries, large over-travels are of enormous importance for a safety sensitive edge, step edge.

As a general rule applies:Machinery and devices pre-senting dangerous move-ments must be provided with an emergency stop device. This device is moni-tored by a suitable safety relay unit.

Because of the rotationally symmetrical design of the contact chain, our step edge, edges can theoretically be operated from any direction, that is, their sensitive range covers 360°.
